Tell us a little about yourself.
Hey guys! My name is Caylin Rodgers, and I'm from Rockville, Maryland. I recently graduated from the University of Maryland, Baltimore County with two bachelor's degrees in media & communication studies and English. Some of my biggest interests are reading, writing, and storytelling. I'm currently working on my first novel and screenplay, which has been an exciting creative challenge. I've always enjoyed finding ways to tell stories and connect with others through content, which is one of the reasons I'm interested in pursuing a career in social media marketing.
What drew you to The GO Deck?
What drew me to The GO Deck company was its mission of encouraging people to step away from their screens and explore the world around them. As someone who spends a lot of time online through school, writing, and social media, I appreciate a brand that promotes real-life experiences and adventure.
What are you most excited to work on this summer?
This summer, I'm most excited about creating content that inspires people to discover new places and make memories outdoors. I love storytelling, so finding creative ways to showcase local destinations and adventures is something I look forward to.
Why is spending time outdoors important to you personally?
Spending time outdoors gives me an opportunity to step away from screens and everyday routines. As someone who's often busy with school, content creation, and writing projects, I appreciate having time to explore new places, get fresh air, and enjoy nature. It helps me recharge, sparks creativity, and reminds me to slow down and enjoy the moment.
What are your next steps?
This fall, I'll begin my master's degree in Marketing Intelligence at Towson University while continuing to build my experience in social media marketing. I'm also committed to growing as a writer and hope to continue making progress on my novel and screenplay. My goal is to combine my love of storytelling with marketing to create meaningful content that connects with people.
What's your local recommendation for the Washington, DC-Maryland-Virginia (DMV) area?
If you're looking for a unique outdoor destination in the DC area, I highly recommend the National Arboretum. It's one of my favorite places to visit because it has beautiful gardens, scenic walking paths, and some of the most stunning natural landscapes in the city. One of the highlights is the National Capitol Columns, which create an incredible backdrop for photos and offer a fascinating piece of DC history. Whether you're interested in nature, photography, or simply finding a peaceful place to explore, the National Arboretum is a great spot to spend an afternoon outdoors and discover something new.
